Strategic thinking in a Polish commune

The author of the article points to changes in strategic thinking that are taking place in Polish municipalities. These changes are related in particular to the new conditions faced by Polish local government units. The issues of correct formulation and, above all, effective implementation of strategic assumptions in the currently extremely dynamic operating conditions, are becoming a priority at every level of business and public unit management. The author of the article identifies key strategic areas in the commune’s activity, which should be properly managed and developed in order to ensure the long-term development of the described type of local government unit in Poland. The article presents the actual role of strategic documents, especially the development strategies of communes.
