Abstract

This article examines the current state of intellectual property (IP) protection management within Polish enterprises, presenting a case study of the Lubuskie Voivodeship. Based on a survey of 27 firms in a technology-oriented district, the study reveals that while awareness of relevant institutions is high, the practical application and strategic integration of IP remain limited due to insufficient resources and legal support. The findings indicate that only a minority of firms actively incorporate IP into their management processes, primarily relying on traditional forms of protection such as trademarks and inventions. To address these deficiencies, the authors propose a comprehensive multi-stage support model for SMEs, covering the entire process from IP auditing and risk assessment to strategy implementation and commercialisation. The paper concludes that systematic education and enhanced regional support structures are essential to transform the region's latent potential into effective competitive advantages.
